A protest was held outside the Redding Senior Center on Monday morning in response to a proposed change to members' voting rights. The change would remove general members' voting rights around financial decisions for the center. Several dozen members of the Shasta Dance Club, who are also self-identified members of the senior center, protested against the plan. They claim that the change would take away their rights and limit transparency.
Board President Julie Hudec countered that the move was necessary to address a significant drop-off in participation at meetings, which had been discontinued for general members in 2018.
